As a Charlotte Mason homeschooler, I have seen first hand the way a book can take my children to another world. There is nothing like getting lost in a book and if it has a connection to history or the bible that makes it even sweeter. Barbour Publishing has taken the bible and created a new series that takes your children on an adventure.
It seems weird in today’s society to be checking yourself out of social media. I have always enjoyed seeing friends’ pictures and updates, and until the last year, I never had any trouble. But over the last year, I feel like it has been taking priority over other things I should be doing and has been causing a bit to much anxiety in my life.
We’ve been taking learning a step further with lapbooks lately. It’s been a good way for my older two kiddos (8 and 7) to learn to do research and find the facts. While lapbooking is not a normal thing for our Charlotte Mason environment, I don’t mind adding in a bit of research when they are having fun doing it as well. We had the opportunity to use the The Greatest Inventors lapbook from A Journey Through Learning Lapbooks and it was a great chance to dig a little deeper into those great inventors from history.
We have a very active family. Between homeschooling, gymnastics, baseball and all of the other activities mixed in, we seem to be constantly busy. If cleaning the house was a chore only I could do, our house would be perpetually dirty. There are just not enough hours in the day.
We’ve changed the chore schedule many times to try and get a good fit and I think this may be continually changing as we grow in duties and expectations. I am always looking for a better way or a different idea and Everyday Homemaking has published a book,The Everyday Family Chore System, that may be just what we needed to jump start the fall.
While we have been homeschooling all summer, it is back to school for almost everyone else this month. As homeschoolers, we don’t have the resources and extra supplies provided for us. It can get very expensive to buy all the different things you might need.
After a few years, I’ve learned there are many things we do not need and a few homeschool supplies that just make homeschooling easier. Here are a few of our favorite supplies.
