Sometimes, we get caught up in the craziness of life and our prayers revolve around what we need in that moment or what we are hoping for and less on being thankful for what God has given us.
When I think back over my days, prayers of thanksgiving come more easily throughout the days than I tend to notice. They are those moments I smile and hug my children. When I thank my husband for helping get the kitchen cleaned up after dinner. In those moments I am thanking God for those He has blessed me with. In fact, every morning and evening, I try to remember to thank God for the blessings in my life, my children, my husband, friends, family and so much more. It’s an amazing way to start and end my days.
It’s Holy Saturday and after Good Friday mass, last night, I couldn’t help but be very thankful. Thankful to God for sending Jesus to die for us and our sins. Thankful for His forgiveness, even though we persecuted Him then and still do every time we sin day after day.
Without God’s saving grace, His only Son and the beautiful gift of forgiveness, life would be much different. I am so very grateful for His gifts to us and the many blessings He has bestowed on me and my family.
It was almost a year ago that our lives rushed into a crazy, scary mess. Even through that craziness, there is a beautiful reminder that God loves us and is there for us through everything. Without His love and grace we would be in a much different place today. The daily prayers. The faith that He had it under control. Without Jesus, things would be so very different. Jesus was the teacher that fulfills our faith and shows us how to trust, love and believe.
Thank you God for all that you have blessed us with, for sending your only Son, Jesus, to live, die and rise for our sake. Help me to remember that you are always present in my life and you are guiding me down the path of truth so that one day I may join you in Heaven.
