Last year around this time, I began to really reflect on the previous year and everything that we had been through.
This year was so much different.
Reflection on the Past – Looking Toward the Future – 2016
As I reflect on the past 12 months, it feels like night and day from the year before. Things have definitely settled down. We are making life at home pretty normal again. Or as normal as life can be with three kids.
We’ve luckily had no scares and hospital visits. Knock on wood.
Everyone is healthy and growing like weeds.
We’ve been a able to see the United States as a family more than I ever thought we would in a short few months.
In the last 6 months we have seen so much of the world. We have been to Green Bay, Chicago, Little Rock, Panama City Beach, Captiva Island, Lake Tahoe and now Washington D.C..
I don’t believe I have ever traveled this much in my life!
We have seen so much beauty and been blessed with some great experiences and adventures.
Which brings me to another thing I am thankful for… homeschooling.
There is no way we could have seen so much had our kids been enrolled in a public/private school. Weeks upon weeks were spent traveling.
The beauty of it was – we just brought school with us wherever we went.
The flexibilty of homeschooling has been such a perk. We had the opportunity to let our kids enjoy the many experiences, through travel, that will enhance their life in so many ways for years and years to come.
I do not know what the next year will bring, but I look forward to whatever God has in store for us. I know he will never give us more than we can handle, and will always give us what we need.
So as I reflect on this past year and look towards the next year, I can say just as I did last year:
I am so blessed.
