Catholic Charlotte Mason Homeschool – Year 3 – Term 2
Timing worked out perfectly for our finishing up our term using Ambleside Online Year 3 – Term 2. We were doing exams the week before Christmas! This was a great stopping point and we spent the rest of that week and the following two weeks on break. The kids and I needed the break and we will begin again today with term 3.
Here’s our recap of Catholic Charlotte Mason Homeschool – Year 3 – Term 2
I never would have dreamed of reading Shakespeare to my kids when they were so young. My call to homeschooling and delving into the beauty of living books, has opened them (and me) up to a wide range of ideas, authors, and a taste for great literature, not to mention a love of history and science.
I’m pretty sure I had never seen or heard any Shakespeare until I was in high-school. My son however has been listening to me read Shakespeare (and has read a bit on his own), for a few years now.
He’s seven. Almost half of the age I believe I was when I was exposed to the Bard.
A few months ago, we ended our Ambleside OnlineYear 2 studies. After a few weeks off, we began Year 3 slowly. While we do homeschool year round, through the spring and summer we take it a bit slower to enjoy the weather and fun activities. What would normally take one week we are doing over two. This allows us a lot of extra time to enjoy a bit of a break and still have a structure in our days.
This year has also given us a chance to slowly transition into more independent work for both kiddos. At seven and eight years old they are both proficient readers. This slower pace is a great way to let them take on more of the readings themselves.
This is a great transition, but it does take a bit more work on my end in preparing Ambleside for the week.
