2017 Word for the Year – Joy

This year, I am picking a word to inspire and direct my life in the new year.

The word I’ve chosen for this year is joy.

According to the dictionary, joy is defined as

  1. a :  the emotion evoked by well-being, success, or good fortune or by the prospect of possessing what one desires :  delight
b :  the expression or exhibition of such emotion :  gaiety

  2. a state of happiness or felicity :  bliss

  3. a source or cause of delight

The beauty of joy is that it can be found in each part of my life. It is everywhere, from the mundane daily tasks that need to be done to the big things life throws my way.
If we look a little bit closer and work a little bit harder at opening our eyes and mind to the possibility of a more optimistic view, we can find joy in all those things. It’s there, we just have to open ourselves to see it more clearly.
My plan for 2017 is to try to work harder at finding a little joy in everything that comes my way. This will make life so much more meaningful and enjoyable.
I am hopeful that as it develops more in my life it will in turn begin to spread even more outside of me and into the lives of others.
